Workshop 2008

On behalf of the Scientific Committee and the Division of Detergent Chemistry (GDCh), we invite you to you to Idstein on June 26-28, 2008, for the 1st International Workshop “Fluorinated Surfactants: New Developments”. The main objective of the workshop is to bring together specialists from around the world in order to present and discuss new developments regarding synthesis, behaviour and fate of fluorinated surfactants. Due to the environmental problems perceived with the ongoing use of some fluorinated surfactants, this workshop especially addresses new developments towards more environmentally friendly compounds. Besides research regarding synthesis, performance testing and degradation studies, environmental processes and regulation will be given significant space in this workshop.

Competent speakers will present their lectures in sessions with the following topics:

  • Synthesis and application of new fluorinated surfactants
  • Degradation and analysis
  • Environment, Toxicity and Regulation

The poster sessions will address all possible topics mentioned.

A round table discussion covering specific topics, such as sustainability, legislation and policy including Pro’s - Con’s will complete the scientific program. We want to encourage students to participate by offering a special reduced registration fee. The workshop will be held at the City Hall of Idstein, Germany. It will commence on Thursday, June 26 at 15:00 h and end at June, 28 17:00 h.

Additionally to the scientific program, there will be a welcome reception on Thursday evening: beer and pretzels will be served at Hochschule Fresenius, Idstein. On Friday evening a wine tasting and dinner in the Rheingau will be organized.
